Georgetown College Alumni Mentorship Interest Form

Overview

The purpose of the program is to build meaningful relationships between members of the GC alumni community and students currently enrolled at the College. In addition, the program gives alumni the opportunity to stay connected to the campus community while also helping foster the creation of the next generation of successful alumni mentors.

Mentors will be expected to:

Participate in program for a minimum of two semesters with the option to extend mentor-mentee relationship beyond those two semesters;
Communicate 1-2 times per month with your mentee;
Be accessible (within reason);
Serve as a positive role model;
Provide constructive feedback to your mentees;
Help mentees set post-graduation goals;
Act as a career coach and aid in the job-seeking process;
Provide a safe environment for mentees to express feelings and frustrations;
Express any concerns for the mentee to the College

Alumni who participate in the program will:

Give mentees guidance on navigating life at Georgetown College;
Help prepare mentees for life after graduation including sharing tips on searching for jobs, how to interview with employers, building a professional resume, leveraging professional organizations, networking; time management; and maintaining work-life balance, etc.;
Discuss with mentees potential internships idea/opportunities and career paths available to them;
Provide out-of-classroom experiences when possible;
Devote time and attention to their mentee on a regular basis;
Partner with the College to ensure mentee success after graduation.
